Ranong Governor’s Residence

The image on this bench is inspired by the architecture of the Ranong Governor’s Residence, also known as Ban Khai Chao Mueang Ranong. This Chinese-style house was built by Phraya Damrong Sucharit Mahitsornphakdi (Kho Sim Kong), the second son of Phraya Damrong Sucharit Mahitsornphakdi (Kho Su Chiang), as a residence for his father. Construction began around 1877, during the early reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). Today, the residence is recognized as a historic site and an important tourist attraction in Ranong Province.
